Uses of Rozerem
Rozerem
is indicated for the treatment of insomnia characterized by difficulty with
sleep onset.
Rozerem Precautions
Rozerem
should not be used by patients with severe hepatic impairment, or in
patients in combination with fluvoxamine. Rozerem has not been studied in
subjects with severe sleep apnea or severe COPD and is not recommended for
use in those populations. Patients should be advised to exercise caution if
they consume alcohol in combination with Rozerem. Rozerem has been
associated with decreased testosterone levels and increased prolactin
levels. As a result, healthcare professionals should be mindful of any
unexplained symptoms possibly associated with such changes in these hormone
levels. Rozerem has not been studied in children or adolescents, and the
effects in these populations are unknown.
Rozerem Directions
Rozerem
should be taken within 30 minutes before going to bed and activities should
be confined to those necessary to prepare for bed. Rozerem should not be
taken with or immediately after a high-fat meal. Engaging in hazardous
activities that require concentration (such as operating a motor vehicle or
heavy machinery) after taking Rozerem should be avoided.
The most common adverse
events seen with Rozerem that had greater than 2% incidence difference from
placebo were somnolence, dizziness, and fatigue.
Rozerem should not be used in combination with fluvoxamine.
Rozerem - The Medication Your Dreams Ask For!
Your dreams miss you. does that phrase sound familiar? If the answer is yes, then you have probably heard about Rozerem, an efficient hypnotic agent. Suffering from constant lack of sleep can become a problem, especially if you have a very demanding job and plenty of work to do. Taking this medication will help you but only if you follow the indications written on the prescription label.
Also, it might be advisable that you contact your attending physician and discuss about all aspects related to this treatment. You should mention any respiratory disease you suffer from, including sleep apnea, pulmonary emphysema (medical condition resulting in reduced functioning of the lungs, often caused by smoking or chronic bronchitis) or asthma. The doctor needs to know any medical problems you have in order to determine the best treatment for you. Therefore, you ought to tell him/her about liver disease (cirrhosis), depressive disorders and any existent allergies.
Rozerem should be used with caution in pregnant women and increased care should also be given to those who intend to become pregnant or are currently breastfeeding. The medication should never be associated with alcohol and there are numerous drug interactions present for Rozerem treatments. Doctors advise against using Rozerem simultaneously with antifungal medication but they also draw attention when it comes to powerful antibiotics such as Rifampin (used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections, including tuberculosis). If you take Rozerem and antifungal drugs at the same time, you stand an increased risk for unwanted side-effects to appear. The concentration of Rozerem in the blood is elevated when medication such as Fluconazole is administered, patients developing adverse reactions rapidly.
These are not the only drug interactions Rozerem presents. The list is long and you should immediately notify your drug in case certain side-effects appear. Rozerem can also interact with medication commonly used for HIV and AIDS, barbiturate drugs, cyclosporine and anxiety medication. Just make sure you tell your doctor all the meds you are taking, prescription or non-prescription. Every detail matters when it comes to prescribing a treatment like Rozerem. The healthcare provider needs to know if you consume alcohol frequently, if you have a history of substance abuse or depressive disorders. It is highly important that he determines your current physical and psychiatric state. Be sure to mention previous suicide attempts, diagnosis of depression, bipolar disease or any other mental illness. And yes, tell about any unusual reaction or allergies that appeared when you took Rozerem. You might be allergic to the medication without even knowing it.
Rozerem is available as tablets, for oral administration. One tablet is enough for you to sleep all night and wake up rested. You are instructed to swallow the tablets whole without crushing or chewing them, with a few drinks of water. High fat foods should never be associated with Rozerem, as they reduce the absorption of its active ingredients into the blood stream. The sleep-inducing properties are altered and insomnia is more likely to worsen. The medication needs to be taken before going to bed. Patients are advised to take one single dose as it is enough. By taking double or extra doses, they are not increasing the sleep-promoting power of Rozerem but the chance of nasty side-effects to appear. If one wakes up in the middle of the night, he/she should not try to solve the problem by taking another tablet of Rozerem.
The side-effects present in patients who have taken Rozerem vary tremendously from allergic reactions to those involving hormones. Some patients develop a rash, associated with excessive lachrymation, dyspnea and swelling. In such situations, the doctor might even decide to discontinue the treatment with Rozerem. As the medication influences the hormones in the body, patients might experience a decrease in their sexual desire but also breast discharge and missed monthly periods. Other side-effects or adverse reactions include general fatigue, arthralgia associated with muscle pain and signs of depression. Rozerem can cause patients to walk in their sleep and perform other activities while sleeping, including eating or driving. The medication is likely to cause temporary memory loss and increase the severity of the insomnia in rare cases. Common encountered reactions include nausea, diarrhea, vertigo, headaches and feeling sleepy during the day.
In order for the treatment with Rozerem to be as efficient as possible, you should pay regular visits to your doctor and allow him/her to observe your progress. Be sure to mention of the insomnia has become worse or if any abnormal behavior has disturbed you.

asleep at night, or staying asleep. When happens more than once a week, it

chronic insomnia. Chronic insomnia is when an individual has a hard time
falling asleep, or staying asleep for more than a month at a time. Insomnia

your life.
Rozerem is a

control the sleep-wake cycle.

be taken as part of a long-term medication therapy. If taking Rozerem does
not solve your insomnia problem within a reasonable amount of time, or your
problem worsens, or you experience behavioral or cognitive abnormalities,
you should discontinue using Rozerem and should see a doctor to see if other
medical disorders are present.
The most common side-effects associated with the use
of Rozerem are drowsiness, fatigue and dizziness. Rozerem should not be
taken after a high-fat meal. Rozerem should be taken 30 minutes prior to
bedtime. Activities should be limited to bedtime preparation during this
period. You should not engage in activities that require concentration,
such as operating a motor vehicle, while taking Rozerem.

Why Can't I
Sleep? Do I have Insomnia?
October 9, 2006
A commonly asked question is exactly
what insomnia is. A commonly believed misconception is that insomnia simply
means that a person is not ale to sleep for days at a time. However, that is
not entirely the case. Insomnia
refers to anytime time that a person is having
trouble with their sleeping habits. Whether the problem is falling asleep,
staying asleep, waking up earlier than you'd like to in the morning, or when you
do wake up in the morning, you still feel tired and as if you didn't get enough
rest. Having only one or more of these sleeping problems is enough to say that
you have insomnia.
Insomnia isn't necessarily your
fault. The human body is programmed so that it gets tired at night time and is
alert and awake during the day. This pattern of sleep and alertness is known as
the sleep-wake cycle. This natural cycle can sometimes be easily disturbed or
disrupted because of numerous different factors.
Insomnia can be induced by
things such as the stressors of everyday life, being sick, anxiety, jet lag, and
other factors such as these. Insomnia is not uncommon, and it is not something
that you can just make up; it happens to millions of people every year.
When you don't get enough sleep and
insomnia sets in, it can affect several different aspects of your life.
Insomnia can affect you moon, health, concentration, and coordination. These
different effects of insomnia can take a toll not only on you, but on those
around you. People who have insomnia are more likely to get sick easier, miss
more school or work, have more accidents, and other occurrences of this nature.
In some cases, insomnia will go away on its own because the original cause, such
as stress or anxiety goes away. But this does not necessarily mean that you are
cured of your insomnia and that the insomnia will never return. In come cases,
if insomnia is left untreated, it can turn into chronic insomnia, and cause
long-term problems. Rozerem is the newest sleep aid medication that is commonly
prescribed due to its low risk of side effects, dependency, and abuse.
Rozerem
is the first prescription sleep medication that is not considered a controlled
medication. Ask your doctor if Rozerem is right for you, so you can remember
what it's like to have a good night's sleep again.
